Medical transit in China is increasingly problematic for the growing population of old people who are residents in ageing buildings. In these environments medical transporters have poor experiences of transferring patients on stretchers, especially downstairs and turning platforms. The project is designed to improve the mobility and accessibility for medical transfers in these complex environments. The design’s lightweight frame, pivoting handles and counterbalanced patient support structure improves the transfer efficiency and reduces the occupational physical injuries to emergency workers and secondary injuries to patients.
