The current standardised 'one-size-fits-all' kitchens in student accommodations fail to accommodate the diverse cultural backgrounds and food habits of tertiary students transitioning into independent living. Home-Cooked explores how a modular, customisable kitchen system can support varied cooking needs in university accommodations, from traditional cultural dishes to simple meal preparation. Through an exploration of student behaviours, the project develops an adaptable kitchen system that responds to student preferences and cooking styles. This design solution ensures students can maintain their preferred relationship with food while finding a supportive environment in their temporary homes, ultimately enhancing their overall academic experience through improved living conditions.
