The biggest impact upon environmental sustainability can only be attained on a systems level. This elective focuses on sustainable design in the context of social-environmental-technological systems. The course explores approaches, methods and tools to enable students to understand how design can mobilise and support systemic changes, from products and services to governance. Through theory and practice, students develop an understanding of systems approaches to sustainability and to more-than-human-centric design – integral to current sustainability thinking. A range of invited speakers provide theoretical grounding for the exercises.
