DESIGNING FUTURES

As designers we are constantly making assumptions about the future, and our designs are a vital part of shaping that very future. A designer brings a toolbox consisting of numerous design methods to each new project, and the real skill of the designer lies in knowing and applying these methods. Students were introduced to a wide range of design methodologies with which they explored multiple visions of the future. They did this by responding to one of three prompts - brain computer interaction, urban living in the age of climate change and designing for post-factual societies.
