CONSTRUCTION OF PERCEPTION

The interplay of our sensory organs with the neurological processes of the brain, shape our interpretation of the environment we live in, triggering deeper primal associations and fostering myriad emotional responses. The memories and learning generated from these interactions drive our coordinated movement, attention, reasoning, and intelligent behaviour. In exploring these ideas, the students crafted a proposition for an installation in the Melbourne Science Gallery, that manipulated physical phenomena to confound the senses and in doing so challenge the audience’s understanding of and relationship with, the natural world.
