Mengke’s research explores the potential of wearable technologies not just as identity markers but as out-of-body organs to express individual essence. By expanding human senses beyond our current physiological limitations, these wearables enhance our connection with our surroundings. Through speculative design, she investigates how technology reshapes community interactions, addressing issues like body politics, centralism, and identity formation. Her work considers data as a new form of life, encouraging emergent, poetic, and self-generated narratives through open acts of perception and expression.
