The Oru project investigated whether performative and adaptive surface geometry inspired by origami can affect the dispersion and movement of sound through the medium to create impactful and immersive experiences.
Through developing an understanding of the principles of acoustics, the surface geometries of origami based forms were investigated in relationship to environmental and perceptual qualities of sound.
The project explored the potential applications of rigid origami in acoustics thereby contributing to evolving body of research on the topic of application of origami by testing the hypothesis that changing surface geometries can impact the acoustical properties of the room.
