SAFE MOBILITY
Coronavirus protective measures have placed considerable pressure on cities and service providers. However, the impact of Covid-19 provided an opportunity for designers to not only respond reactively to immediate community safeness needs but to imagine safer, healthier post pandemic cities.
In collaboration with the City of Melbourne and the Ajuntament de Barcelona, students responded to the 'new normal' with design proposals that address the psychological, physical and technical realities needed to ensure safe mobility in urban environments, whilst addressing the necessary restrictions imposed by the global pandemic.
The project afforded opportunities for students to show the value of human centred design methodology and focussed design interventions in responding to global challenges and reimagine the nature of transit in our cities for the foreseeable future.
